The Routine

Hibiscus – It’s the iconic blossom of the tropics in terms of both flavor and beauty. Hibiscus’s dried “fruits”, before becoming flowers (called “calyxes”), add gorgeous fuchsia color to steeping teas, plus a vibrant tartness reminding one of tropical citrus, sorrel, even Middle Eastern spice. If flavor alone doesn’t impress, hibiscus (also called “flor de Jamaica”) is notoriously healthy: benefits range from boosting heart health to soothing coughs or sore throats. It’s also a source high in vitamin C which can help immunity.

Rose Hip – Hip to roses? Rose hips (or rosehips) are even better for making deliciously tangy tea. The fact that they taste like orange peel lets you in on a little secret: rose hips are incredibly high in vitamin C. They also burst with far more of these antioxidants than any other citrus fruit, too. Besides equipping you for your next sick day, rosehips’ sharp yet pleasant sourness sings a special harmony with this tantalizingly juicy and truly “brightening” blend.

Orange Peel – Zesty, refreshing, and a little bit precocious: all these flavors perfectly describe orange peel. Our most cheerful ingredient in Brighten, it completes a sour “trifecta” with rosehip and hibiscus to beam flavors at once fresh, cooling, and invigorating straight to your taste buds. Research shows orange peel has protective effects on the digestive system. It’s chock-full of abundant vitamin C, too—so you’re ready for your next cough, cold, or flu.

Blackberry Leaf – Enhancing Brighten’s tart and succulent nature, blackberry leaf lends slightly bitter astringency that brings the whole blend back to earth. The berry’s leaves are rich in tannins known to help tone digestion while containing good amounts of vitamin C. By rounding out the sharp flavors of Brighten’s “tangier” ingredients, blackberry leaf makes this a tea that is truly herbal, healing, and rejuvenating, through and through.

Natural Raspberry Flavor – A touch of tart raspberry sweetness ties all the flavors of Brighten together. It also makes our flavorful blend one that’s equally enjoyable whether piping hot or refreshingly cold.
